Ħamrun Spartans are hopeful to resolve their search for a wing-back with the signing of Arthur Oyama.
The Spartans have been scouring the market in search of a lateral defender and it looked as though they had solved it with the signing of Montenegrin defender Darko Bulatovic.
However, earlier this month, Bulatovic informed the Spartans that he had a change of heart and that he was staying put in his country.
The same scenario happened with Ugandan defender Kakuba who reached agreement over personal terms with the Spartans but he too withdrew from the deal due to personal reasons.
However, it looks like Ħamrun have found their man in the Maltese Premier League after opening talks with Oyama.
The former Floriana, Gżira and Sliema Wanderers defender will be playing for the Spartans in a friendly with Vittoriosa Stars at the Tedesco Stadium on Friday evening and if he leaves a good impression on coach Mark Buttigieg he will put pen to paper on a one-year contract.
The 33-year-old had arrived in Malta in 2017 when he moved to Floriana before heading to G’ira United and Sliema Wanderers.
So far, he has amassed 17 appearances in the Maltese Premier League and scored one goal.
At Ħamrun, Oyama will be hoping to be a more consistent performer and secures a regular berth as in the last two season he struggled to show his best form.
