Leandro Aguirre has returned to Maltese football to join his former club Valletta FC.
Earlier last month, reports in South America said that the 31-year-old left back had decided not to renew his contract with Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza as he decided to start a second spell with the former Malta champions.
Aguirre arrived in Malta in season 2016-17 and he made 30 appearances with the Citizens, scoring four goals.
He will hope that this time he will lead the club to a better league placing after that season, Valletta had only managed to finish in fourth place.
The Citizens have already brought in Serbian defender Mihailo Jovanovic in order to bolster their defence and bring an adequate replacement for Steve Borg who left the club to join fellow Premier League rivals Gżira United.
Added to that, Valletta also signed Taisei Marukawa who last season was on the books of Senglea Athletic.
