Malta international defender Zach Muscat will continue his playing career in Portugal when he agreed to join Casa Pia AC for the coming season.
The former Birkirkara defender spent the last two years in Portugal with third division side Olhanense with whom he came close to win promotion to the country’s second-tier but was denied following a controversial ruling by the country’s football federation.
Now, Muscat had decided to remain in Portugal and move to Casa Pia AC who will be playing in the Primeira Liga, which is the second-tier of Portuguese football.
Casa Pia AC start their league campaign on September 13 when they face Leixoes, who in the past had Malta international Udo Nwoko on their books.
For Muscat his experience with Casa Pia AC provides him with a fascinating challenge as he will be up against the second teams of Portuguese giants Porto and Benfica among others.
Muscat started his career with Pieta Hotspurs before joining Birkirkara with whom he spent almost four seasons.
In 2016 he moved to Italy to join Akragas, Arezzo and Pistoiese before finally making the move to Portuguese football in 2019 when he joined Olhanense.
