Alex De Paixao Alves is set for a return to Maltese football after the speedy Brazilian has reached an agreement to join Birkirkara.
Alves has put pen to paper on a one-year contract and will join Andre Paus’ squad in the coming days.
The Brazilian winger is a notable face of Maltese football after enjoying a very successful spell in Maltese football a few years back.
In fact, the right-footed winger arrived in Malta in 2015 when he joined Tarxien Rainbows with whom he spent two seasons.
Then in the summer of 2017 he moved to Balzan where he spent another two seasons.
Alves’ impressive performances inevitably attracted interest from abroad and in January 2019 he headed to Saudi Arabia to play for Al Akhdoud Club.
In total, Alves made 94 appearances in the BOV Premier League, scoring 18 goals and providing 14 assists. He also represented Balzan six times in the Europa League, netting one goal.
