Spanish goalkeeper Sanchez joins Spartans

Sasere set to move to Reds on loan from Lugano

Ħamrun Spartans have signed Spanish goalkeeper Pablo Sanchez.

The 23-year-old custodian has been on a trial with the Spartans for the last week or so and has impressed coach Mark Buttigieg with his performances.

In fact, Sanchez produced impressive displays during the team’s friendlies against Floriana, which ended in a goalless draw, as well as in the 2-1 win over Birkirkara.

Against the Stripes, Sanchez was solid in goal and also managed to save a penalty.

His performances were enough to convince the Reds to offer him a one-year contract.

Sanchez’s arrival eases the Spartans injury problems between the posts as at present regular goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo is out for six weeks while Jonathan Debono is also nursing injury.

The Spanish goalkeeper is now expected to make his debut for the Reds against Sirens on Monday.

Meanwhile, Ħamrun are expected to add another piece of their jigsaw as they are set to take Nigerian forward Franklin Sasere on loan from Lugano.

The towering striker has left a very good impression on the Spartans technical staff in his first training session on Monday and is now expected to be part of Mark Buttigieg’s squad for the upcoming season.

Sasere is expected to move the Spartans on loan.
