Ħamrun Spartans have announced the signing of Matthew Guillaumier from Birkirkara.
On Wednesday, the Spartans agreed a fee with Birkirkara and talks to finalise the move continued in the past few hours with the player quickly agreeing personal terms and he put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
The acquisition of Guillaumier is surely a major statement of intent for the Reds who are looking to mount a serious challenge for a place in European football next summer.
Guillaumier is the third Malta international player to have joined the Spartans this summer as he follows Juan Corbalan, who moved from Gżira United, and Joseph Mbong, who was on the books of Hibernians.
Guillaumier is expected to be included in the Spartans squad for their Premier League match against Senglea Athletic on Wednesday.
