The Nashville Soccer Club announced Saturday that an unidentified player has tested positive for Covid-19 but the squad would play its Major League Soccer match Saturday at New England.
The player who tested positive self-isolated after receiving the result while the club began contact tracing and follow-up testing after halting training.
All remaining players as well as team staff have returned two consecutive negative results, so those players will play at New England as planned.
Nashville, which is also set to play host to Minnesota on Tuesday, is 4-5 with four drawn this season for 16 points and clinging to ninth in the Eastern Conference, the penultimate playoff spot.
New England ranks fifth in the East at 5-3-6 for 21 points.
MLS health and safety protocols require testes every other day for all players and staff members.
A coronavirus outbreak on the MLS Colorado Rapids forced the league to postpone a game scheduled Saturday at Portland to November 4.
