With the basketball season just around the corner for European teams, new Palestrina signing TEVIN FALZON has officially joined the squad to begin his experience in the Italian Serie C Gold. The Times of Malta’s Sportsdesk looks at Falzon and other Maltese professionals plying their trade overseas in another segment of ‘Maltese abroad’.
Falzon (picture) has kickstarted his Pallacanestro Palestrina career this weekend after joining the team on Friday and was also part of the squad for a friendly on Saturday against Basket Roma.
The side lost 79-68 but the new number seven will now have gotten the first taste of Italian basketball ahead of the side’s first match
Kurt Cassar’s Pallacanestro Orzinuovi discovered a similar faith in their friendly on Saturday against Derthona Basket.
Cassar managed to get his name on the board despite limited minutes as the side lost 88-76.
Aaron Falzon managed 5 points and 5 rebounds in his official debut with Etoile Angers on Friday as he played for 18 minutes in the sides’ 88-82 loss against Vendee Challans on Matchday One.
This came just a day after the announcement that his trial was extended further until the end of October as he had impressed the club during the original period.
Etoile Angers play their next match on Tuesday as they face Vanves GPSO.
SC Phoenix’s Nelson Kahler grabbed double digits, depite playing 15 minutes, in Friday’s 92-60 win over Northside Wizards.
Kahler managed a field goal percentage of 85% after bagging six out seven attempts, and grabbed seven boards.
The side, in fifth place, play seventh place side the South West Metro Pirates on Saturday (Tip off 7.30pm AEST/11.30am Malta)
