Mġarr United and Raiders Għargħur emerged winners from their latest BOV Women’s League commitments.
Both teams were striving to chalk up three important points as Mġarr were at the back of a defeat to Birkirkara and a draw against Swieqi, while Raiders were lurking at second bottom with just three points.
A brace from Francesca Chircop propelled Mġarr to a 2-1 victory over an in-form Kirkop United side. Chircop has now made it eight goals in six games to overcome Kirkop’s Rodianne Zerafa who found the net seven times, but in four matches.
Sarah Urpani was Kirkop’ scorer as the young forward has joined Mġarr skipper Brenda Borg and Raina Giusti with five goals.
Raiders grabbed six goals against Mtarfa to register a 6-0 win, joining Kirkop United on six points.
Six different players put their names on the scoresheet with Leanne Micallef, Maya Lucia and Michela Bonello Ghio grabbing first-half goals. Captain Monique Sultana, Anna Aloisio and Sarah Vella Barbieri wrapped up the win with three more goals after the break.
