The first women’s Ballon d’Or in history, Ada Hegerberg, has agreed to terms with Olympique Lyonnais to extend her contract until 2024.
One of the most coveted players around, Olympique Lyonnais strikes a massive coup in extending their star forward.
Hegerberg, at only 25, is a major staple of women’s football. In addition to winning the Ballon d’Or in 2018, she holds multiple records such as most goals in a Champions League season (15), most prolific goal scorer in the Champions League history (53), and has had so far a career full of team and individual awards.
Hegerberg, arguably the best forward in the world, and Olympique Lyonnais, have renewed their joint desire to reach new heights together.
The deal is believed to set a new milestone for women’s football, worthy of the Norwegian staggering statistics (220 goals in 182 games for OL).
The striker had the desire to seal her new deal quickly, for her and her team to focus on their next goals, but also because of the financial agreement that was reached with the club.
She says: “I am very happy to extend my contract with Lyon. I took my decision a while ago. I believe Olympique Lyonnais is still the best club to be at in order to win trophies, and I want to be at the best club, winning trophies.
