Ħamrun Spartans forward Jorge Ailton Soares, aka Dodo, won his second ‘BOV Player of the Month’ award in a row. The forward from Cape Verde is proving to be a great asset in Ħamrun’s arsenal to keep their hopes of winning their first title in three decades alive.
In their match against Santa Lucia, and trailing by two goals, Soares unleashed a powerful drive past the Santa Lucia keeper. Still one goal down and deep into stoppage time, Soares provided the assist to Sasere to earn a very important point.
Earlier in the month, Ħamrun found themselves one goal down and with ten-man against Mosta. Soares connected with a Karl Micallef cross to head past Mafoumbi for the equaliser. His constant attacking, and his assist to Sasere for Ħamrun’s third goal earned him the BOV Player of the Match title.
Dodo received his trophy from Gilbert Zahra, Manager at Bank of Valletta’s Hamrun Branch in the presence of MFA Vice President Matthew Paris. The player chose Fondazzjoni Arka to benefit from the donation associated with this award.
