Local Riders Aaron Falzon and Sasha Lecuyer left their mark with three-pointers over the weekend as both Leicester and Loughborough earned wins. Sam Deguara’s Tokyo Excellence added to local victories with another two wins. Leicester Riders’ forward Aaron Falzon grabbed double digits in around 17 minutes on Friday as the side cruised past the Newcastle Eagles 99-73. Falzon scored 10 while grabbing five boards and making a steal.
The Riders beat the London Lions 78-73 in the following game on Sunday. This time, with 10 minutes on court, Falzon scored a bucket from three-point range and made another two steals.
The Riders, who are currently first in the league standings, face the Surrey Scorchers on Wednesday (tip-off: 6PM UK/7PM Malta).
Sasha Lecuyer and the Loughborough Riders also had a winning weekend as they got a blowout 76-42 win against the BA London Lions on Saturday. Lecuyer scored one from three-point land, while grabbing a rebound, making an assist, and a steal in around 17 minutes as a starter.
Loughborough face the Reading Rockets on April 10 (tip-off: 2PM UK/3PM Malta).
Sam Deguara scored 23 points in nearly as many minutes as the Excellence cruised past Kagoshima Rebnize 91-68 on Saturday. The Malta center got his double-double with 11 rebounds while managing a steal, block and an assist.
The next day, Tokyo did just the same as the beat Kagoshima 99-77. Deguara went close to another double-double as he scored 13, grabbed nine boards, and assisted two buckets in 13 minutes.
The Tokyo Excellence’s next game is against Toyoda Gosei Scorpions and Saturday and Sunday.
