Goalkeeper Jake Galea parts ways with Sliema Wanderers

Jake Galea has announced that he has decided to part ways with Sliema Wanderers.

The young goalkeeper had been with the Blues for the past three seasons where he made the no.1 jersey his and his excellent form has also earned him a place in Devis Mangia’s national team squad.

“Reaching the end of my three-year contract at Sliema Wanderers FC, I look back and appreciate the headway and breakthroughs I’ve made with the club as well as an individual athlete,” Galea said in a post on his facebook page.

“While I thank my ex-team-mates coaches and staff, I have undeniably still got a long way to go, and my nex chapter is just another step into achieving and satisfying my goals to play at the highest levels possible, near or far.”

Despite being only 24 years old, Jake has established himself in the Premier League where he first played for St Andrews before moving to Ħamrun Spartans.

In 2018 he moved to Sliema Wanderers where he made 57 appearances with the Blues where he managed 17 cleansheets.

Sources have told Times of Malta that Galea is looking to pursue his career abroad although a move to another Premier League club is not excluded.

In fact, Galea has been contacted by a number of Premier League clubs, with Valletta being very keen on securing the services of the former Ħamrun goalkeeper.
