Oliver Spiteri reconfirmed as Sta Lucia FC coach

Alan Da Silva Souza, Andre Rodrigues and Victor Filho pen new contracts

Santa Lucia FC have reconfirmed Oliver Spiteri as their first-team coach for another season, Times of Malta can confirm.

Spiteri has played a leading role for the Saints this season as he masterminded the team to a very positive campaign in the BOV Premier League.

In fact, under the charge of Spiteri, Sta Lucia were one of the revelations this season as despite a modest budget their philosophy of promoting young Maltese talent has paid rich dividends which saw them finish a commendable eighth in the Premier League standings.

Spiteri has put pen to paper on a one-year contract and he has already started work with the club to strengthen the team for the upcoming season.

In fact, the Saints have managed to reconfirm three of the overseas players that were with the club last season.

Brazilian forward Alan Da Silva Souza will again don the colours of Sta Lucia after putting pen to paper on a new one-year contract.

The former Valletta and Balzan forward was an inspirational figure for the Saints and formed a lethal attacking partnership with league top scorer Kevin Ante Rosero.

The 33-year-old finished the season with six goals to his name and provided eight assists.

Brazilian defender Andre Fausto Rodrigues has also agreed to extend his stay with Sta Lucia as the 27-year-old centre back has signed a one-year contract extension.

Rodrigues will be joined by his fellow compatriot Victor Luiz Prestes Filho who has also penned a new one-year deal.

The club is also currently working hard to secure the services of more overseas players as they look to build a competitive squad for the upcoming season.
