Santa Lucia FC have reached an agreement to sign striker Vito Plut, the Times of Malta can confirm.
The Saints enjoyed a very positive campaign in 2020-21 season, when they finished eighth in the Premier League and are now looking to bolster their squad as they bid to mount a stronger challenge next season.
Santa Lucia FC have targeted Slovenian forward Plut who is currently a free agent after his contract with Tarxien Rainbows expired last season.
The Saints’ top hierarchy moved quickly to secure his signature and agreed personal terms with the veteran striker putting pen to paper on a one-year contract.
The capture of Plut is seen as a great signing for Santa Lucia FC as the Slovenian forward boasts a lot of experience in the Maltese Premier League.
The 32-year-old, who boasts 16 appearance with the Slovenian U-21 national team, arrived in Malta in 2014 when he joined Floriana before he agreed a move to Birkirkara the following year and stayed with the Stripes until 2017.
After a short spell in Germany with FSV Frankfurt, Plut was back in Maltese football last season when he joined Tarxien Rainbows.
With the Rainbows, Plut made 22 appearances and scored nine goals.
