Simone Inzaghi is set to replace Antonio Conte as coach of Inter after the former Lazio forward has accepted an offer from the newly-crowned Italian champions after it had looked that he was set to prolong his contract with the Rome club.
According to reports, Inzaghi turned out to be Inter’s preferred option to replace Conte who stepped down from his role on Wednesday after a clash with the Chinese owners.
Earlier on Thursday, it looked as though Inzaghi had agreed terms on a new contract with Lazio but Inzaghi decided to take some time to ponder on the offers he received from Lazio and Inter.
In the last few hours, La Gazzetta dello Sport said that Inzaghi has ended talks with Lazio and has agreed terms with Inter.
It is understood that the deal will see Inzaghi receive a two-year contract that would guarantee him €4 million plus €1 million in bonuses.
After such development one expects Inter to announce their new coach as early as Thursday night.
