Former Malta international Andre Schembri has been appointed as a football director with Cypriot top side Apollon Limassol.
Schembri hung up his boots last season and immediately opted to study for a career in football management.
Since then the former Malta international has been recruited by his former club Apollon Limassol where he initially served as a youth coach.
Now, Schembri is set to embark on a new challenge as he has been appointed as a football director at the Cypriot club.
“I am honoured and humbled to be trusted with the responsibility of the role of a Football Director with the first team of Apollon Limassol FC and will dedicate my work to ensure the club’s success,” Schembri wrote on his facebook page.
“My new position is a great opportunity to work in a high-performance environment and I am grateful for being given the chance to illustrate my abilities.”
Schembri enjoys a lot of experience in playing football in several European countries, having had spells at Hungarian giants Ferencvaros, Omonia Nicoasia and Boavista. He joined Apollon Limassol in 2017 where he spent two years with the club.
Schembri has also enjoyed a distinguished career with the Malta national team, making 94 appearances and scoring three goals.
