Birkirkara women’s team are set to play one of their biggest games in their history as they will travel to Turin to cross swords with Juventus Women, on Sunday.
The Stripes will be heading to Italy for a four-day training camp that will serve them as a preparation for their upcoming UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifications between August 18-22, in Scotland.
Birkirkara coach Melania Bajada spoke to Italian portal, IlBiancoNero, saying that they will be facing ‘incredible women’ in this match.
“We had been in contact with Juventus since last season but we were unable to organize ourselves due to the Covid-19 pandemic and all the airports were closed,” Bajada said.
When Juventus offered us a friendly match, of course we accepted immediately because you can see the progress they have made in a few years, it will be a great opportunity for the team to play against incredible players and it will help us improve our game when we face teams. strong.
From this friendly I want to build team confidence when we play against strong teams. I want to prepare them mentally, as we will only face stronger teams in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and playing a friendly helps to prepare, without the pressure of an official match.”
