Maltese runners from the Rush AC and La Salle AC clubs who are currently competing at the European Kids Meeting in Brno, Czech Republic, continued to secure more podium placings after winning two medals in Tuesday’s afternoon session.
The performance of the day belongs to Matthew Galea Soler who won the 300m in a new national record in the U-16 category with a time of 35.91 seconds.
Luca Gerada, of Rush AC, continued to underline his promise when he placed second in the 150m race when stopping the watch in a new personal best time of 18.97 seconds.
For Gerada this was his second medal at this meeting after earlier he had placed third in the javelin event.
The girls 4x60m relay team, formed by Thea Shoemake, Enrica Ciantar, Bianca Shoemake and thea Parnis Coleiro stormed around the track to clock a time of 31.75 seconds that put them third in the standings, and secure a bronze medal.
Thea Parnis Coleiro took part in the 150 metres race and reached the final when clocking a time of 19.41.
In the final, Parnis Coleiro crossed the finish line in 19.80, just 0.04 seconds off the bronze medal position.
Matthew Azzopardi, of La Salle AC, set a new Brno Games record for 12-year-old boys when winning the 800m race in 2.18.42, bettering the previous record by over one second.
