The two major events during Sunday’s 31st meeting of the season held at the Marsa Racetrack were the semi-finals from the Tazza l-Kbira competition on a long distance of 2640m.
These races were won by Chaud Devant and Antoine Du Bourg. Sunday’s card consisted of ten races all for trotters.
From the two class Premier semifinals, twelve horses made it to the final stage. In the first semi final, French Chaud Devant (Noel Baldacchino) managed to seal its second win in a row and in Malta after leading all the way.
In the final metres, Baldacchino’s trotter managed to sustain the challenge of Viking’s Topline (Eugenio Bondin), Baron De Majuag (Alessandro Grech) and Up And Go (George Attard). Venale (Michael Ellul) and Casanova Du Corta (Clifferty Calleja) also made it for the final race after finishing respectively in fifth and sixth place.
Similar was the second semi-final from the same championship. Here Antoine Du Bourg (Redent Magro) was unchallenged during almost all the 2640m distance.
This French trotter past the finishing post first by a length from Bara Min (Jesmar Gafa’), Joe Hoo Lee (Matthew Sammut) and Juvels Boy (Caillin Borg). Beguin d’Ali (Rodney Gatt) and Aster Des Caillons (Charles Degiorgio) followed home in that order.
For Antoine Du Bourg this was its fifth win of the year in an impressive average time of 1.14.6” per kilometer.
Another meeting at the Marsa Racetrack will be held on Friday. The first race should start at 6.30pm.
