Watch: Bugeja grabs assist as Sassuolo bounce back with Pomigliano win

Haley Bugeja registered an assist as Sassuolo bounced back from last week’s defeat against Roma by beating Pomigliano 4-2 in the Serie A Femminile, on Sunday.

It was far from a straightforward victory for Sassuolo, surviving a scare in the second half when Pomigliano had cancelled a two-goal deficit to put themselves level at 2-2. Nonetheless, two late goals from Kamila Dubcova and Sofia Cantore handed Sassuolo the three points.

The Neroverde remain second with 21 points after eight outings. Juventus are currently leading the standings with 24.

Bugeja made her first starting appearance this season, after coming off the bench last week against Roma. The Malta women international registered an assist in the first goal after whipping in a cross from the left-hand side which Benedetta Brignoli capitalised.

The former Mġarr United player remained on the pitch for 55 minutes before being replaced by Alice Parisi.

Sassuolo will travel to Napoli in next week’s Serie A Femminile commitment.
