Mosta goalkeeper Christoffer Mafoumbi was deployed between the sticks for Republic of Congo in Thursday’s World Cup qualifier against Namibia.
Mafoumbi’s Congo managed to snatch a point after Guy Mbenza’s goal in the second half helped them secure a 1-1 draw with Namibia.
Situated with African powerhouse Senegal and Togo, Congo are currently bottom of Group H with three points after draws with Namibia twice and Togo.
Mafoumbi, who has now collected 29 caps at international level, will return in action for his nation on Sunday when they host Senegal.
In the 2021/2022 domestic league, Mafoumbi has featured twice so far in the opening two league games after playing in the Europa Conference League against Spartak Trnava as well.
