A late leveller from Inter’s midfielder Tatiana Bonetti denied Haley Bugeja and her Sassuolo three important points in the Serie A Femminile, on Saturday.
Bugeja, who was named in the IFFHS Women’s U-20’s Best XI on Friday, was deployed from the start and played 70 minutes before being replaced.
Sassuolo scored through Sofia Cantore and Kamila Dubcova whereas Inter’s goals were scored by Njora Nchout and Bonetti.
Bugeja’s side remain second on 25 points but they could be joined by Roma should the Giallorosse defeat Rachel Cuschieri’s Lazio and by Milan, should the Rossonere halt Juventus’ unbeaten run on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Sassuolo return in action next weekend where Bugeja will meet fellow Malta women’s national team player Emma Lipman in the Coppa Italia.
