Mellieha Libertas announced the signing of US forward Malik Colvin-Seldon on Tuesday as their first signing over the Christmas break.
The former University of Cumberlands player joins on the back of experiences in Australia and Mexico in 2020 and 2021. Both ventures have not been long-term, having only spent pre-season with both sides due to COVID-19 restriction postponing the leagues.
Colvin-Seldon, 25, has, however, impressed back in his college playing days, ending his senior commitments by winning a place in the NAIA All-American Third Team in 2019. He started and played in 31 games, leading the team in points (15.4), steals (1.4), and blocks (1.4). He was second on the team in rebounds with 6.6 per game… Notched six double-doubles, including notching 31 points and 14 rebounds in the team’s regular-season finale against Cumberland University. Colvin-Seldon was ranked 24th in NAIA for blocks and 23rd in field goal percentage with 56.6%.
The signing will aim to improve the chances of coach Adrian Mifsud’s side in the latter half of this year’s BOV National League, with the team standing in fifth place, level on three wins with Depiro after seven games.
