Former Sliema Wanderers stalwart Maurice Walsh passed away on Wednesday, aged 91.
Walsh has enjoyed a very successful career at the Wanderers which saw him don the blue colours for 13 years.
During his time at the Premier League club, Walsh managed to help the Blues win three league titles, two FA Trophies, the Cassar Cup twice and the Scicluna Cup four times.
In total, Walsh played 149 games and scored 53 goals.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Sliema Wanderers player Maurice Walsh.
Walsh spent 13 years playing for our club, winning 3 leagues, 2 FA Trophies, 2 Cassar Cups and 4 Scicluna Cups in the process. In total Walsh played 149 games and scored 53 goals for our Club making him a true Club legend,” Sliema Wanderers said in a statement.
“From all of us at Sliema Wanderers we would like to offer our deepest condolences to all of Maurice’s family and friends. Keep Strong.”
Walsh’s funeral will be held at the Sacro Cuor Parish Church in Sliema on Saturday, January 15 at 9am.
