Haley Bugeja scored her second goal of the season as she propelled Sassuolo to a comfortable 3-1 victory over Sampdoria in the Serie A.
Bugeja started in the front three for Sassuolo and took only two minutes to find the net with a low drive that went past the Sampdoria goalkeeper.
Sassuolo made sure of the win with two more goals in the opening 45 minutes through Kamila Dubcova and Sofia Cantore.
Sampdoria pulled one back as Sassuolo held on to their two-goal lead.
The Malta women’s international player was replaced on the hour mark as the Sassuolo coach was looking to rotate the team with the three points already in the bag.
Sassuolo’s next league game will be a stern test against Milan on February 27. With 34 points, Sassuolo remain in contention for the Italian championship and a place in next season’s Women’s Champions League.
