Malta international guard Kristy Galea and her team the Milligan University Buffaloes had to settle for second place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament over the weekend.

Galea (2PTS-3AST-2REB) led the team in assists, after dishing out three dimes but could not connect in her field goals, an issue that was present among the team as they fell to a 72-57 loss to fifth-seed Reinhardt University on Saturday.

While the latter claimed an automatic bid to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) championship, the Buffs will have to wait until Thursday to discover what is in store for them, when the association announces its National Tournament.

This comes after the side had made the final with a 71-54 win over Point University in the semifinal on Friday.

Galea, in her first season with the team, has got a 40.9% field-goal percentage, going 29.1% from three. She has averaged 7.3 points per game across 26 games, averaging 21.7 minutes per contest.

The Milligan Buffs had clinched second seed for the AAC Tournament with a game to go and hold a 25-8 record this season.
