A late goal from clinical forward Matteo Ardemagni handed Matthew Guillaumier and his Siena a crucial 2-1 win in their Tuscany derby against Pontedera, on Thursday night.
Malta international midfielder Guillaumier was in the starting formation for Siena. They opened the score just before half-time through Cristiano Bani.
Pontedera thought they had snatched a late draw when they levelled terms on the 85th minute before Siena scored the winner deep into stoppage time.
Siena are now two points away from the promotion play-off zone, with one game left against Cesena which will be played on April 23.
