Starlites Naxxar will now take on the name Starlites FIJO after announcing a new collaboration with FIJO Developments.
In a statement on Friday, the Naxxar club confirmed that through their agreement with the local company, Starlites “will continue to grow and invest in its basketball programmes and future ambitions”.
“Starlites Naxxar BC and FIJO developments are proud to announce a partnership sponsor agreement. FIJO developments will be supporting both men’s and women’s teams who compete in all competitions organised by the Malta Basketball Association (MBA) in the highest division,” the statement read.
The club also said that for the past years, FIJO have followed their successes and their agreement will “support and maintain the competitive levels achieved over the past years of both men and women senior teams”.
“For the past years FIJO have followed the multiple successes of Starlites Naxxar Basketball club who in the past seasons showed its’ potential, strength and successes in both men and women division one competitions,” the statement read.
Starlites FIJO makes its debut with two games this weekend. The men’s team faces Mellieha Libertas in this season’s playoff finals with Game One tipping off on Saturday afternoon (tip-off: 13.30), while the women’s team faces Caffe Moak Luxol in the two-legged Louis Borg Cup final (game one: Friday 20.15), after having been eliminated from the playoffs in the first round by the same Luxol.
