Referee: Fyodor Zammit.

Red cards: Riascos (S) 90, Failla (Mosta) 90+.

BOV player of the match: Marios Lomis (Sirens).

Substitute Carlos Flores struck a last-gasp winner in an entertaining game that produced countless scoring chances and some shambolic defending, which produced a sting in the tail.

Sirens finished their commitments on winning note as they displayed superior firepower.

With nothing at stake, except prestige the match between Mosta and Sirens was expected to offer open, attractive football, free from the shackles of pressure forthcoming from any absolute necessity for points.

Although there was this disposition for adventurous play from both teams, free-flowing football was hardly conspicuous. Still, they managed to carve a couple of openings.

Sirens’ bright opening was rewarded by an early goal from Marios Lomis when he drove a low shot behind Dylan Ciappara after sensing a gap in the Mosta defence.

The return of the skilful William Donkin and that of Youri Loen helped Mosta to turn the tide in their favour shy of the half hour mark.

Christ Ememe’s fine run was met by Zachary Brincat who hit the ball behind Jonathan Debono.

Mosta were enjoying more possession but were once again caught wide when Lomis ran in to meet a calibrated Bogdan Gavrila’s cross to head past Ciappara.

The pace slowed down after the change of ends with most of the exchanges being restricted in the midfield area.

Donkin’s continuity was not to be disregarded and his run 10 minutes from time and eventual shot was stopped by Adrian Borg who was on hand to block a scorcher from the English winger.

The same player went close four minutes later with an angled drive which finished agonisingly wide.

Mosta’s last-minute reaction produced the equaliser when Donkin took full advantage of short clearance by Jacob Walker.

Drama was not yet over when a brilliant one-two move between Alfred Effiong and substitute Carlos Flores paved the way for the American striker to demonstrate his skill with the ball as he gracefully dribbled his way past the goalie to deposit the ball into the empty net.

Sirens ended the match with ten men when Carlos Riascos was shown the red card in stoppage time.
