Hibernians FC have completed their first signing in the close season when they reached an agreement to sign forward Gabriel Mensah, the Premier League club announced on Monday.
The Ghana midfielder was a key figure for Gudja United last season, as he helped the club to secure a place in the Top Six against all expectations.
“Hibernians FC can confirm that an agreement has been reached between the club and 26-year-old Ghanaian forward, Gabriel Mensah,” the newly-crowned Malta champions said in a statement.
“Gabriel arrived in Malta to join Pietà Hotspurs FC and in the past three seasons, he played with BOV Premier League club Gudja United FC. In the Premier League, Mensah played a total of 85 matches and scored 18 goals.
“We would like to welcome Gabriel to the club and wish him the best of luck in black & white.”
Mensah is expected to be the first of a few signings from the Paola club who are finalising the squad ahead their commitments in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers in July.
The Paolites are also currently in talks with coach Stefano Sanderra over a new contract as the Italian’s deal expired at the end of last season.
It is understood that the intention of both Sanderra and the Paola club is to continue their relationship but so far no agreement has been struck.
