Manolito Micallef has been appointed as a technical collaborator in Gianluca Atzor’s technical set-up at Floriana FC.
Micallef ended long career as a player at the end of last season after helping Floriana to finish second in the BOV Premier League as well as winning the FA Trophy after a 2-1 extra-time win over Valletta in the final.
In a statement, Floriana FC said that Micallef will be serving in the club’s technical staff, under the charge of Gianluca Atzori, where he will pass on his experiences to the players in a bid to further their develop their talents.
“President Johann Said has announced this morning that clubman Mano Micallef will start serving as a collaborator in the technical staff led by Head Coach Gianluca Atzori,” the Premier League club said in a statement.
“Following the FA Trophy success this season, Micallef announced his retirement as a professional football player, having reached the milestone of 400 Premier League appearances and ending his successful career where it all started.
“The next step was only natural. On Atzori’s recommendation, Mano will become an important element on the training grounds and in the dressing room, passing on the experience he achieved throughout the years to our Boys in Green.
“Mano currently holds a UEFA C License.”
