Young player Emma Ciantar Piccinino is set to continue her football career in England after putting pen to paper on a contract with Enfield Town.
The Maltese youngster will join the club after a successful trial period with them and also featuring in their first pre-season friendly against Wycombe Wanderers.
Ciantar Piccinino’s new team will be lining up against several opponents to warm up for the new campaign including against Women’s Super League sides West Ham United (July 27) and Tottenham Hotspur (August 14).
Enfield Town play in the FA Women’s National League – Division One (England’s fourth-tier), in which they placed 10th in the 13-team championship with 24 points in 24 games.
Last season, Ciantar Piccinino was part of Sunderland’s Foundation of Light while playing for two different clubs in Sunderland West Ladies (fifth-tier) – with whom she started the past campaign before moving to Middlesbrough Reserves to wrap up the 2021/2022 campaign.
At West Ladies, the former Malta U-19’s scored two goals in 10 appearances while with the Foundation of Light she found the net on seven occasions in 17 games.
She also faced fellow Maltese Alexandra Gatt (Barking Abbey) in the National Football Youth League at Bolton Wanderers’ stadium, triumphing narrowly 1-0.
Ciantar Piccinino was selected by the U-19’s team of her country which clinched a historic promotion to the League A qualifications of the European Championships back in April.
