Jonathan Holland named Malta U-18 national coach

Jonathan Holland has been appointed as the new Malta U-18 national coach, the MFA said in a statement.

Holland stepped down as assistant coach with Birkirkara FC last May and now he will take another step forward in his career when he takes charge of the Malta U-18 team.

“The Malta FA is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Holland as the new Malta U18 Coach and Malta U15 Assistant Coach,” the Malta FA said in a statement.

“Jonathan is a very well-known personality in the local football circles.

“In his playing days, he represented Malta at the senior level 18 times, featuring one less (17) during his time with the U21 Team.

“He also captained Malta Under 18 Team in his 6 caps representing his country in this category. 

During his senior career, Holland made over 300 appearances and scored 55 goals, including his contribution in UEFA competitions with clubs he represented, mainly Floriana and Birkirkara, but also during his period playing for Ħamrun Spartans.

Holland also had a spell overseas, plying his trade for a short period in the UK with Conference League side Bradford Park AFC and up north in Scotland with Nairn County FC.

Holland attained his coaching UEFA A license in 2020, and also qualified in the SICS Match analyst course delivered earlier this year.

At youth level, he already coached domestically Melita, Sliema Wanderers, Ħamrun Spartans, Floriana, and Birkirkara.

At senior level he served in his role of assistant coach at Ħamrun Spartans, Floriana, and Birkirkara wherein occupied his role until last season 2021/22.
