Mbong’s Ironi Kiryat denied in Israeli Cup

Malta international Joseph Mbong made his second competitive start in a row for Ironi Kiryat as they hosted Bnei Sakhnin in the Israeli Toto Cup.

Mbong’s side could not go beyond a 2-2 draw in their second game in this competition.

Ironi Kiryat launched their commitments in this game with a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Hapoel Hadera.

The Toto Cup, which is the third most important competition in Israeli football, sees 10 of the 14 top-flight teams divided into groups as they play four games each in a round-robin format.

Ironi Kiryat’s next games are against Maccabi Bnei Reyne on Saturday before they face Hapoel Haifa the following Wednesday.

The four teams representing Israel in European football skip the group stages whereas the winners of each group head to the semi-finals.

Mbong’s Ironi Kiryat sit fourth with just one point. Should they finish fourth, Ironi Kiryat would play in the ranking match for the 11th/12th place in this competition.
