‘Referee should be alert on time wasting’ as under-pressure Wolfsberg face Gżira

Wolfsberger AC coach Robin Dutt is hoping for more alertness on time wasting from the match official as his Austrian outfit is set to face Gżira United in the third qualifying round second leg at the Centenary Stadium.

Officiating the match will be Nicholas Walsh from Scotland as Wolfsberg are under pressure ahead of a very important game in their season.

Coach Dutt was far from pleased by Gżira’s approach in last week’s first leg, as in his opinion the Maltese side lacked fair play in Austria.

“We will not stop the play,” Dutt told Kleine Zeitung.

“The referee should decide if there is an injury or if it is the case of time wasting.”

Wolfsberg, who arrived to Malta on Monday morning, are at the back of nightmare weekend.

They shipped five goals in a home defeat against LASK in the Austrian Bundesliga as they have picked up just two points in their opening three games of the season.

In addition, Wolfsberg will be without the services of highly-rated defender Luka Lochoshvili who has swapped the Austrian side for US Cremonese of Italy.

The Georgian defender was in the starting formation in last week’s first leg in Klagenfurt.

Nonetheless, Dutt still expects his side to dominate proceedings as they will look to make sure of qualification inside the 90 minutes.

According to Austrian sources, Wolfsberg did not even train penalties in their final training session at the Centenary Stadium.

“I expect again that we will have the ball for long spells,” Dutt explained.

“That means that the quality of the ground is important for us.”

The German coach also explained that they have analysed thoroughly their first leg and now they are more prepared on how to attack the Maltese representatives.

The winner of this tie will face one between Molde of Norway and Hungary’s Kisvard in the play-off round of the Europa Conference League.
