Two Ħamrun Spartans league fixtures moved due to FK Partizan qualifier

The Malta FA has moved Ħamrun Spartan’s opening two games of the new campaign due to their historic play-off round appointment in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

After dispatching of Bulgaria’s Levski Sofia, the Spartans will face FK Partizan of Serbia.

Branko Nisevic’s will play the first leg on Serbian soil, at the Partizan Stadium, on Thursday, August 18.

They will host the second leg the following week with the match expected to be held at the National Stadium.

Ħamrun were due to launch their season against Marsaxlokk on Saturday, August 20. However, this game has now been moved to September 7 (Wednesday) at 7.30pm, at the National Stadium.

Their first league game of the 2022/2023 season will now be against Hibernians – originally scheduled as Matchday 2.

The Spartans will meet the defending champions on Sunday, August 28 at 7.30pm at the National Stadium. Initially, the game was pencilled for Friday, August 26.

Elsewhere, the Malta FA made other changes in these early fixtures of the season.

Birkirkara and Sirens will play their opening game of the season at the Centenary Stadium, while Balzan and Żebbuġ Rangers’ kick-off time has been moved to 8.45pm.

Floriana’s opening league fixture against Pieta Hotspurs has been moved to the Tony Bezzina Stadium whereas Mosta and Gudja United will rub shoulders at the Centenary Stadium, at 7.30pm – both games scheduled for Saturday, August 20.

On Sunday, August 21, Valletta and Hibernians will meet at the Tony Bezzina Stadium (kick-off: 6.30pm).

The following week, Pieta Hotspurs and Valletta will cross swords at 8.45pm in a game which will be held at the Centenary Stadium.
