Ħamrun Spartans sign experienced goalkeeper Anthony Curmi

Ħamrun Spartans have completed the signing of experienced goalkeeper Anthony Curmi, the Times of Malta can confirm.

The Spartans have been looking for a goalkeeper to add more competition to no.1 Henry Bonello and his understudy Pablo Sanchez who is set to return from a long-term injury this month.

Curmi was a free agent after he left Gżira United at the end of last season after his contract expired.

The Spartans held talks with Curmi in the past few days and an agreement was reached for the experienced custodian to sign a deal with the Spartans.

The experienced goalkeeper is expected to join Branko Nisevic’s first-team squad on Monday to conduct his first training session with the club.

Curmi will not be available for the Spartans for Thursday’s UEFA Conference League Play Off round second leg tie against Partizan Belgrade but will be in the squad for Sunday’s Premier League clash against champions Hibernians.

For Curmi this will be a second spell with the Spartans as he was already with the Reds in season 2012-13.

Added to that he has vast experience in the Premier League as he was also on the books of Tarxien Rainbows, Sliema Wanderers and Gżira United among others.
