Alex Satariano joins Balzan FC on a season-long loan from Frosinone

Alex Satariano is set to return to Maltese football after he agreed to join Balzan FC on loan from Italian Serie B side Frosinone.

Satariano’s impending move to Balzan FC is a huge twist after a week ago the young forward had looked set to join Serie C side Virtus Verona on a season-long loan deal.

However, reports in Italian media said that the Verona-based club had a change of heart on the transfer and decided to look at other options.

Here, Balzan FC entered the race to take Satariano on a similar loan deal and a deal was struck on Tuesday night.

For Satariano, the move to Balzan concludes a busy few weeks for the former Luxol and Sliema Wanderers striker.

In fact, earlier this month, Satariano was on trial at Panserraikos of the Greek second-tier with whom he also played in a friendly against Heracles of the Netherlands but he was not offered a contract.

Last season, the Malta international joined Serie B club Frosinone but struggled to command regular football before moving to Pergolettese in Italy’s third-tier in the winter transfer window.

Satariano still failed to play regularly having featured only once before returning to Frosinone at the end of the season.

At international level, the forward scored two goals in 20 appearances for his country.
