Sliema Wanderers completed a double swoop on deadline day after reaching an agreement to sign winger Aidan Friggieri on a permanent transfer and bring in Neil Frendo on loan from Balzan FC, the Times of Malta can confirm.
The Wanderers have been working hard during the past few weeks to try and strengthen their squad in a bid to challenge for a return to Premier League football next season.
The signing of Aidan Friggieri is a major swift in the future of the talented winger as initially he had agreed terms to join Premier League side Balzan.
However, during the last few days the player held talks with Balzan to terminate his contract with the club.
Once becoming a free agent, Friggieri opened talks with the Wanderers and he agreed personal terms and signed a contract that will see him return to his former club for the upcoming season.
Friggieri has already played for Sliema Wanderers at the start of his career before he decided to move to Gudja United and St Andrews.
On the other hand, Sliema Wanderers have also held positive talks with Balzan FC to take young midfielder on loan for the rest of the season.
Frendo, who came through the youth ranks of Mosta FC, joined Balzan in 2019 and during the last two years was on loan at Pembroke apart from a short spell in Serbia with OFK Belgrade.
Now he is set to don the colours of Sliema Wanderers after agreeing a season-long loan.
