Floriana coach Gianluca Atzori handed a debut to Floriana’s latest recruit, Argentine midfielder Fernando Juarez as he named him in the starting formation for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Valletta.
The 24-year-old joined Floriana FC on loan from Argentine top-flight club Talleres.
The Greens have been awaiting the green light from FIFA to be able to register the 24-year-old and the Premier League club have finally received the nod from the world governing body to field the talented midfielder.
Born in Santiago del Estero, has come through the ranks of Tallares and besides a short experience at Agropecuario, Juarez has always played at Tallares.
The 24-year-old midfielder has 29 appearances for Tallares including four in this season’s Copa Libertadores as Tallares reached the quarter-finals.
Juarez, whose deal was assisted by Sports Pro Management and Consultancy, can also play as a defensive midfielder and has 44 appearances in Argentina’s top-flight.
Juarez’s capture completes Floriana’s search for a valuable replacement for Malta international Brandon Paiber who left the FA Trophy winners at the end of last season to join neighbouring rivals Valletta.
