Israel’s coach Alon Hazan has picked 24 players for September’s double-header against Albania (UEFA Nations League) and Malta (international friendly).
Hazan’s side are on the verge of a historic promotion to League A in the UEFA Nations League. A win would ensure their spot in the top-tier of this competition.
They currently lead League B Group 2 with five points, two ahead of second-place Iceland with whom they drew 2-2 in both first and second round fixtures.
Israel, ranked 76th in the world, will face Malta on September 27 at the National Stadium, Ta’ Qali.
For these two games, Israel will have 16 players based in the domestic league including Ironi Kiryat’s Itamar Shviro who plays with Joseph Mbong at the Israeli club.
Five players from the squad are on the books of Maccabi Haifa, Israel’s sole representatives in the UEFA Champions League and who are at the back of a strong display on home soil against Paris Saint-Germain.
Israel’s captain Bibras Natcho, 85 caps and three goals, is also selected. He was part of the Partizan Belgrade squad that faced Ħamrun Spartans in this season’s UEFA Europa Conference League qualifications.
