Jodie Felice Jones is set for his first start for the Malta national team as the Oxford United striker was named in the starting formation for Friday’s crucial UEFA Nations League qualifier against Estonia.
Malta are looking to beat Estonia with a two-goal margin that would earn them an historic promotion to League C and the inclusion of Felice Jones was one major signal of Mangia’s intent to field an attacking formation to try and reach the team’s objective.
The 24-year-old striker was handed his first call-up for the national team for this month’s internationals after he was handed a Maltese passport on descent.
Felice Jones, whose father is Maltese, is set to start just behind Alex Satariano, who will hold the main striker role.
Henry Bonello starts in goal with Mangia likely to switch to a four-man defence formed by Jean Borg, Enrico Pepe as the central pairing while Cain Attard and Ryan Camenzuli patrolling the flanks
In midfield, Brandon Paiber and Joseph Mbong will run the team’s engine room.
Upfront, Teddy Teuma will operate behind Satariano and Felice Jones.
