Luxol St Andrews were off to a winning start in the 2022-23 Enemed Futsal League as they found little difficulty to overcome University of Malta 9-4.

This was the second time that these two sides were facing each other this season, as a fortnight ago, Luxol had beaten the University of Malta in the Super Cup final.

Luxol’s goalscorers on the day were Mark Zammit and Luke Gatt, who grabbed a brace each, while Andy Mangion, Celino Alves, Matthew Attard, Robert Stoyanov and an own goal by Stefan Camilleri completed the scoreline for the St Andrews side.

The University of Malta pulled four goals back through a Dale Valletta double, Aaron Montebello and Steven Camilleri.

In a very well-contested encounter, Ta’ Xbiex Futsal saw off Swieqi United 5-3.

The winners had an exceptional first half as they established a 5-1 advantage with Swieqi pulling two goals back in the second half but could not complete their comeback.

Former Swieqi player Karl Sciortino scored a brace while Zvezdan Vukovic and Dylan Musu were the other scorers for Ta’ Xbiex.

Ryan Muscat, Francisco Ferraro and Clyde Bonavia were on the mark for Swieqi United.

Marsaskala Futsal obtained their second win on the trot as they saw off Malta U19 3-1.

The southseasiders were on the mark courtesy of goals from Bertram Azzopardi, Owen Duca and an own goal by Aaron Stagno while Colin Sammut reduced the arrears for the Maltese Youths.

Żurrieq Futsal hammered Fgura United 9-0 in a match which they dominated from start to finish.

Dale Vella and Boycho Marev helped themselves to a brace while Gabriel Ghigo, Javier Montes Burgos, Daniel Muscat, Marinko Solarevic and George Douglas Saliba were also on target.

On the other hand, St George’s Futsal recorded a 5-0 win over Malta Veterans who were making their official debut in this league.

Faisal Alnakou scored two goals while Karl Luke Schembri, Kurt Tabone and Herbert Spiteri added more goals to their tally.

STANDINGS: Ta’ Xbiex, Żurrieq, Marsaskala 6, Luxol, Swieqi, St George’s 3, Malta Veterans, University of Malta, Fgura, Malta U19 0.
