On Swedish soil, Teuma played 82 minutes where he registered a pass accuracy of 78%, had 78 touches, won all three ground duels. He also contributed to the defensive phase of his team with 2 tackles and 2 interceptions.
The victory has sealed Union’s qualification to the last 16 of UEFA Europa League, where they can potentially face some of the big guns that will drop from the UEFA Champions League including Barcelona.
Barca dream
Speaking to Belgian media after the game, Teuma heaped praise on his team as they managed to prove critics wrong and top a group which was deemed difficult at the start of this competition.
As they head into the knockout stages of the Europa League, the Malta midfielder is upbeat on his team’s chances to progress while at the same time he is keen on sharing the field with some of the best sides in European football.
“I hope this beautiful adventure continues as long as possible,” Teuma said.
“It is magnificent, you have to take advantage of these moments because not everyone get to experience such moments.
We are an ambitious team, we want to continue to dream and grow.”
Asked about if he had any preference between Barcelona, Juventus and Atletico Madrid – who can be Union’s opponents in the next round, Teuma opted for the Catalan giants.
“I would take Barcelona because going to the Camp Nou is a childhood dream of mine,” Teuma explained.
“That would be wonderful.”
