Swieqi United put on a commanding display to dispatch of Raiders Lija with a 4-0 victory that sees them take sole leadership in the 2022/2023 Assikura Women’s League.
Birkirkara were on their way to their fourth win of the season and stay first before their San Ġwann encounter had to be abandoned due to adverse weather.
The Stripes had already opened a four-goal advantage in a match that is set to be rescheduled for another date. Sara Saliba, Kimberley Parnis, Ann-Marie Said and Gaia Milan had grabbed the goals.
The Owls, on their part, romped past Raiders with three goals inside the opening half.

Moments later, midfielder Shona Zammit scored her fourth goal of the campaign to double the lead before Jade Flask added Swieqi’s third – sixth goal of the season.
Flask is joint-top scorer for Swieqi with American-born striker Tatiana Hawkins who also scored six goals now, having registered the fourth goal of the Owls against Raiders Lija.
Raiders Lija’s Lexine Farrugia, named Player of the Month in the U-21’s category, was an unused substitute in this game.
Elsewhere, Mġarr United have moved to 10 points after hitting Mtarfa for six.
Michael Mangion deployed a Greens’ side without the services of club captain Brenda Borg – first player of the month winner of the season – and Yulya Carella, with both of them not being utilised for this fixture.
Daniela Said Ebejer, Kelly Agius Pace, Rebecca Bajada and Maia Debono scored four goals before the half-time whistle.
After the change of ends, the Greens added two more goals through Nicole Grixti and Rodiana Borg as they picked up their third win in six outings.
