Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic has called on his side not to get carried away with their run of good form, warning on Thursday “we will have setbacks again”.
Dortmund have won eight from eight in all competitions to start 2023.
Their six successive league victories have seen Dortmund close a nine-point gap to Bayern Munich to sit level atop the Bundesliga table ahead of Saturday’s clash with Hoffenheim.
“We’re joyful that things are going well at the moment, but joy won’t win us the game on Saturday,” the 40-year-old manager said.
Terzic said he remembered the side’s 4-2 capitulation to Borussia Moenchengladbach before the winter break and “people questioning whether we would even qualify for the Champions League.”
“It is nice that the fans can enjoy this phase. We want people to want to see us play again.
“But we’re not quite there yet. There will be setbacks again.”
Hoffenheim, Dortmund’s opponents on Saturday, have claimed just one point in their last six games — the worst record of any Bundesliga side in 2023.
Dortmund, who will be without the injured Youssoufa Moukoko and Karim Adeyemi for the trip to Hoffenheim on Satuday, can go three points clear with a win — at least until Sunday’s blockbuster clash between Bayern Munich and Union Berlin.
