Luxol St Andrews were crowned Enemed Futsal Premier League for a fifth consecutive season when they beat Swieqi United 8-1 in the second out of three finals at the National Sports School Pavilion.

The team from St Andrews had already won the first match of the series 8-2 two days ago and were aware that a victory would have assured them of the title.

That turned out to be a great source of motivation for the team led by Gabriel Dobre who again rubberstamped their supremacy in the game in recent years.

In this second game, Swieqi were missing several key players such as goalkeeper Brandon Debono and Emerson Molina who were suspended while Michael Borg was injured.

Swieqi had a bold performance in the first half where they started to defend with all their resources but in the second half, Luxol’s superiority came to the fore and they had to surrender against their opponent’s strength.

Luxol had to do without the suspended Emil Raducu, and the injured Andre Ciancio, Stefan Vella and Carl Azzopardi.

The Malta champions had a perfect second half as they scored two goals in 40 seconds and from then on, they never looked back.

Mark Zammit, Everton Veve and Maicon got their names twice on the scoresheet. Ryan Marmara and Robert Stoyanov completed the win for Luxol.

Swieqi’s goals came from Roller Santiago Cruz.

At the end of the game, FMA president Mark Borg presented the cup to captain Mark Zammit amidst the celebrations of the Luxol’s clan.
