Evergreen Maltese long-distance runner Joelle Cortis enjoyed more international success when she stormed to victory in a 10K race at the Brighton Marathon Weekend on Sunday.
Cortis produced a storming run as she completed the distance in 35 minutes and 43 seconds to finish well ahead of her rivals.
In fact, Lisa Scholfield, of [email protected] AC, finished a distant second over a minute behind the Maltese runner as she crossed the finish line in 36 minutes and 50 seconds.
Lewes AC runner Lucy Lavender completed the podium when taking third place in a time of 37 minutes and eight seconds.
For Cortis, her victory in Brighton is yet another success in a long-distance race held away from the Maltese shores.
Last February, Cortis took part in the MonacoRun and set a new national record time in the Principality when placing ninth overall.
These results will surely keep Cortis on the right track as she is hoping to represent Malta in this year’s GSSE after securing a qualifying spot in both the 5,000m and 10,000m events.
