Former Times of Malta sports photos contributor Paul Zammit Cutajar dies

The Maltese sports media fraternity was on Tuesday mourning the passing of former Times of Malta photo contributor Paul Zammit Cutajar.

Zammit Cutajar was one of the best sports photographers on the island for several years, capturing some of the best
moments in Maltese sport for the Times of Malta and the Sunday Times of Malta, particularly in football where he was regularly on duty for Premier League matches as well as the national teams.

During his career, Zammit Cutajar was recognised several times as he was awarded the International Olympic Committee Trophy – Sport and Art in 2014 while he was named Sports Photographer of the Year in 2013 and 2015.

Zammit Cutajar’s ability to picture the most significant moments of football matches saw him being employed by the Malta Football Association to follow the national team’s commitments on the international scene.

The Malta Football Association issued a statement to pay tribute to Zammit Cutajar.

“The Malta FA mourns the death of our longtime friend and colleague, Paul Zammit Cutajar. As all who knew him can attest, Paul was a man among men. He dedicated his life to photography and his love for his passion was contagious,” the Malta FA said in a statement.

“Please join us in remembering this great man. May his good soul rest in peace. Until we meet again Pawl!”
